I started my career at the R.J. Kiln & Co managing agency in 1981 as a computer programmer, moving fairly rapidly to the underwriting side of the business working on the Accident and Health account. I was given my own portfolio to manage (Financial Institutions and Commercial Fidelity) after gaining the ACII qualification in 1986, and in addition worked extensively on the RSMD and SASRIA business.
In 1990 I moved to Hiscox as Accident Line Underwriter for syndicate 624, where I wrote A&H and Financial Institutions business, whilst assisting on a small oil & gas account. 1996 saw me move to Sturge, which became Ockham syndicate 219, which ultimately turned into ACE Global markets syndicate 2488, where I focussed entirely on A&H business.
My final move was to AIG in 2000, initially as Regional Underwriting Manager for the A&H account, via EMEA A&H manager, and latterly Chief Underwriting Officer for the PA, Travel and Warranty Service accounts for EMEA.
Following an extensive restructure at AIG, I’m now branching out on my own.
